In Odesa recorded the first case of a new strain of coronavirus "Omicron". It was confirmed in the regional laboratory center.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the broadcast of the hardware meeting in the Odesa City Council.

It is known that the patient was given a PCR test in a private laboratory.

Thus, the carrier of the new strain of coronavirus turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine, who works abroad and together with his family came to Odesa.

As reported in the City Council, now the family members of the ill are at home.

"They are feeling well and do not need hospitalization. The health of the patients is monitored by doctors of a private clinic", - added in the city council.

Recall, the first case of a new strain of coronavirus Omicron was confirmed in Ukraine on December 18.

It should be noted that the chief sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin admitted the possibility of introducing a lockdown in Ukraine through Omicron.

We would like to add that according to the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, Ukraine will not be able to avoid a new wave of coronavirus due to the rapid spread of the new Omicron strain, which could happen as early as early this year.
