Inflation in the last year accelerated twice, price growth became the highest in four years

The rise in consumer prices in Ukraine in 2021 reached 10%, having doubled in a year - against 5% in 2020. This is evidenced by the data of the State Statistics Committee, reports UNN.

 

Inflation in the consumer market in December compared to November was 0.6% for the year as a whole - 10.0%.

 

Core inflation in December compared to November was 0.4% for the year as a whole - 7.9%.

 

To add, the price increase in 2021 was the largest in four years, at 9.8% in 2018, 4.1% in 2019, and 5% in 2020.

 

In the consumer market, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.2% in December (up 12.7% for the year).

 

Most of all (by 10.0% and 9.1%) in December, eggs and vegetables went up in price. The prices of bacon, milk and dairy products, cereal products, rice, bread, beef, pasta and butter have risen by 3.0-1.3%. At the same time fruit, sugar, sunflower oil and poultry became 3.9-0.6% cheaper.

 

Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 0.2% in December, with tobacco products 1.0% more expensive and alcoholic beverages 0.6% cheaper.

 

Clothing and footwear fell in price by 3.6%, including clothing by 4.0% and footwear by 3.3%.

 

Prices (tariffs) for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels over the month even slightly decreased - by 0.1%. At the same time, in annual terms, prices for communal services slowed to 9.8% from 10% a month earlier.

 

Transportation prices fell 0.2% in December primarily due to a 3.0% decline in fuel and oils. At the same time, 1.4% and 1.1% higher prices for rail and road passenger transport.

 

Over the month, prices for health-related services rose by 0.4%, up 6.1% year on year, while prices for education rose by 0.1% over the month, up 17% year on year.
