Germany is ready to discuss stopping the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline if Russia attacks Ukraine.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

"It is clear that Russia will have to pay a high price in case of a military intervention, in which case we will have to discuss different options," Scholz said, answering questions on Nord Stream-2 after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

He also noted the need to continue the transit of gas through Ukraine.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during his visit to Germany, noted that there is no unified position on the pipeline, but all allies are calling on countries to diversify energy sources.

"There are different views among NATO allies on the issue of Nord Stream 2, but all allies agree on the importance of diversifying energy supply sources for many reasons - for environmental reasons as well as for security reasons," Stoltenberg said.

According to him, this issue is being discussed in NATO, and the Alliance calls on the allies to diversify their supplies.

It should be noted that the German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock also said in Kiev that she was ready to introduce measures against Nord Stream-2 in case of further escalation on the part of Russia against Ukraine.
