Lend-Lease for Ukraine - a bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen has introduced a bill on the Lend-Lease for Ukraine. It is intended to simplify the provision of military assistance to the country, writes RBC-Ukraine.

The initiative came as a result of the recent visit of a delegation of American parliamentarians to Ukraine.

"This bill would give the president expanded powers to more quickly conclude lend-lease agreements directly with Ukraine and expedite the delivery of military equipment needed to protect vulnerable civilians from Russian military invasion," the senator said in a statement.

The practice of "lend-lease" became widely known during World War II, when the U.S. supplied arms and strategic materials to anti-Hitler coalition allies on a partly reciprocal basis.
