PACE calls urgent meeting amid Russia's attack on Ukraine - Tini Cox

President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tini Cox has called an urgent meeting of the Joint Committee between the Committee of Ministers and the PACE to coordinate the response to Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. This is reported on the PACE website.

 

"I am deeply shocked by the Russian Federation's military attack against Ukraine, which began last night. I call on Russia to immediately stop military action and withdraw its forces from Ukraine," the PACE president said.

 

He added: "This attack is a clear violation of the principles and values upheld by the Council of Europe and its member states. It requires a strong and consolidated response from our organization."

 

Tini Cox suggested that the Bureau of the Assembly promote a second session to immediately resolve the situation and its consequences.
