Switzerland froze more than $6 billion of Russian assets

Switzerland has frozen about 5.75 billion Swiss francs or $6.17 billion worth of Russian assets, which include a number of properties. However, this amount is likely to be even higher, Reuters reported.

"With new reports and potential additions to the EU sanctions lists that Switzerland also suggests, it is likely that this figure will grow," said a senior official at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

Until now, SECO has refused to estimate the size of assets frozen or potentially sanctioned, but the neutral country has begun to accept European Union sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
