The bodies of two tortured civilians were found in the liberated Trostyanets, Sumy region, and criminal proceedings have been initiated. This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, during the occupation of Trostyants, the Russian Armed Forces abducted and abused civilians, thus violating the requirements of the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians.
After the city was liberated from the Russian troops on March 30, two bodies with gunshot wounds were found. The dead civilians were civilians whose disappearance had been reported by their relatives a few days earlier.
A criminal case was opened for violation of laws and customs of war (part 2 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On March 26, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Trostyanets, Sumy Region, from Russian occupants.
