France and Germany made a strategic mistake in 2008 by not allowing Ukraine to join NATO - Kuleba

Germany and France made a strategic mistake in 2008 by not allowing Ukraine to become a NATO member. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with NBC.

"If we had been a member of NATO, this war would not have happened. The strategic mistake made in 2008 by Germany and France, who rejected the efforts of the United States and other allies to include Ukraine, is what we are paying for. Germany and France are not paying for this mistake, Ukraine is," the Minister said.

According to him, the reality now is that Ukraine is capable and knows how to fight.

"I think it would not be an exaggeration to say that Ukraine has turned out to be one of the strongest armies in the world - maybe second in strength after the United States, not in numbers, but in experience, in combat capability," Kuleba said.

He also said that the Ukrainian side is offering the West and NATO a deal: "you provide us with everything we need, and we fight so you don't have to go into battle" with Putin.
