Western countries should provide Ukraine with the same military assistance as they would protect themselves. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in the "60 Minutes" program on the CBS News channel.

"Weapons are number one. They (Western partners - ed.) must be very serious about this issue, and they understand exactly what I am talking about now. They should supply weapons to Ukraine the way they would protect themselves and their people. They have to understand that. At the other rate, it will be very difficult for us to contain this pressure. And this is a horde, you have no idea how many people it is. They don't count," the President said.

He noted that it's not about tanks, of which Russia has thousands.

"They don't count people, they don't care at all, they have no emotions about it. It's thousands, tens of thousands. They will not count them, and they will be added all the time. Therefore, the number one weapon," says the Head of State.

Secondly, according to him, Ukraine must get a security guarantee.

In addition, Zelensky noted, weapons are one of the factors of deterring Russia, the other is sanctions.
