Russian Federation reacts to detention of ex-president in Moldova

The detention of former president Igor Dodon is an internal matter of Moldova. Moscow only wants to be sure that all his rights will be respected. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, reports UP.

"This is an internal matter of Moldova ... We are alarmed that again such practices are applied to those who are supporters of the development of friendly relations with Russia," he said.

He also stressed that the Kremlin wants to be sure that all Dodon's legal rights are respected.

Recall that on May 24, Igor Dodon was searched. He is suspected under four articles of the Criminal Code of Moldova: "Passive Corruption", "Receiving Funding by a Political Party from a Criminal Organization", "Illegal Enrichment" and "High Treason".

Dodon was then detained for 72 hours in a case under four articles of the Criminal Code.
