France no longer receives Russian gas from Germany

France no longer receives Russian gas through pipelines from Germany.

This was announced by the French gas transmission system operator GRTgaz.

Since June 15, GRTgaz states that the physical flow between France and Germany has stopped. This flow was about 60 GWh/day at the beginning of 2022, i.e. only 10% of the capacity of the connection point.

On the other hand, flow at the connection point between France and Spain has increased, averaging more than 100 GWh/day since March 1, with observed peaks of 220 GWh/day during certain periods in May.

"No difficulty is expected in meeting the needs of French consumers in the summer, while the filling of storage facilities on the eve of winter continues," the statement said.

France has not been as dependent on Russian gas as Germany and Italy, relying more on nuclear power.

In the past few days, Gazprom has limited supplies to several EU countries.

On June 16, Austria's OMV received a notice of reduced gas supplies from Russia's Gazprom.
