The United States has expanded sanctions against Russia and imposed a ban on gold imports. This is reported by the U.S. Treasury Department.

It is reported that the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department has put on a sanctions list of 70 organizations that are critical to the defense industrial base of Russia, including Rostec Corporation, as well as 29 individuals. 

In addition, the US State Department is imposing sanctions on another 45 entities and 29 individuals. The new restrictions are expected to hit Russia's ability to develop and use weapons and technology in the war against Ukraine.

It is also reported that the State Department's list also includes Russian military units involved in war crimes in Russia. Visa restrictions are being imposed on more than 500 Russian military personnel.

Simultaneously with today's sanctions, a ban on imports of Russian gold is being imposed. The decision is effective immediately, but does not apply to Russian gold that is currently outside Russia.
