The second fatal incident in two days in the Italian Alps

In Italy, a climber died while climbing Mt. Ortles in the eastern Alps.

This is reported by Ansa.

The accident occurred in the early morning, at about 5:30 am near the shelter Payer, which most climbers choose as a starting point for the summit of 3905 meters above sea level.

A man fell off and plummeted down 400 meters.

Local rescuers immediately learned about the incident and sent a helicopter, but the climber died on the spot. Nothing is reported about his identity.

The day before, on July 5, while climbing the famous Matterhorn two Swiss died.

The search continues for five Italian tourists, whose fate remains unknown after a massive collapse of the glacier in the area of Mount Marmalade. As a result of the accident, seven people died and eight were injured.
