Spain intends to provide Ukraine with 10 Leopard tanks and 20 armored personnel carriers - mass media

Spain is open to negotiations on the transfer to Ukraine of ten Leopard 2A4 battle tanks and about twenty M113 armored personnel carriers, which are in service with the army, for protection against Russian invasion of its territory. This was reported by Infodefensa.

According to the publication's sources, defense officials are currently studying the possibility of transferring these systems to the Ukrainian side in response to Kiev's repeated request for additional military assistance to stop Russian troops.

"This decision will be a turning point regarding the type of assistance the government has been willing to provide to Vladimir Zelensky, as so far it has been limited mostly to defensive materials, to the point of ordering the return of 30 military trucks with 200 tons of ammunition last July from the port of Gdynia to the Ukrainian border," the publication reported.

The operation to transfer military equipment to Kiev will be based on a triangular scheme. Once the Leopard 244 and M113 become Ukrainian property, Zelensky's government will finance their modernization and upgrading at the expense of modernization on Spanish soil at the expense of the European Union's European Peace Fund. To do this it will need to sign a contract with Spanish companies.

The final stage will be the transfer of weapons to the theater of military operations.
