Mexican president calls for a five-year truce around the world

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called on the world to stop wars for at least five years. This was reported by the Excelsior edition.

The Mexican leader noted that the world simultaneously faced many threats, so all countries must agree on a five-year truce. To begin with, he said, should be the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.

"First it was the pandemic, then Russia's war with Ukraine, now these tensions in Taiwan, we have all the problems because of the lack of growth of the economy, poverty is growing, there is a global inflation, what should we do? Promote productive activities, create jobs, serve the poor and strive for the cooperation of nations and peoples for development," Lopez Obrador said.

He added that the same initiative could be taken by the United Nations. The truce, he said, should also affect trade wars.
