The EU commented on the scandalous Amnesty International report

In response to Amnesty International's scandalous report on Ukraine, the EU has said that Russia is committing unjustified aggression and attacks civilians and civilian objects, while the Ukrainian army is trying to protect them. This was stated by a representative of the European Commission, Peter Stano, at a briefing in Brussels.

He noted that what is happening in Ukraine is a direct consequence of Russia's illegal, unjustified and unprovoked aggression, which is killing Ukrainian civilians, destroying Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, turning pensioners, women, children, hospitals and train stations into military targets.

"Russia is attacking civilian targets, and the Ukrainian army is fighting this aggression and trying to protect civilians. In this situation, of course, there is a need to place military equipment in areas under attack populated by civilians. This is yet another example of how inhumane and unjustified the Russian aggression against Ukraine is," Stano said.

In general, he said, the EU is against situations where citizens pay with their lives and health during armed confrontations and the efforts of the EU and the international community are always aimed at trying to reduce the suffering of civilians in any conflict.
