Germany will support Ukraine as long as necessary - Scholz

Germany has revised its attitude to military support for Ukraine and plans to provide the necessary assistance as long as it is needed, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a speech at Charles University in Prague.

"We will maintain this support reliably and, above all, for as long as it will be necessary," Scholz emphasized, according to Reuters.

He also promised that in the coming weeks and months, Germany would send Ukraine state-of-the-art weapons, such as air defense systems, radars and reconnaissance drones.

According to him, Germany can also take responsibility for building up the artillery and anti-aircraft potential of Ukraine.

Scholz also called for the expansion of the European Union and the inclusion of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

"Our Europe is united by peace and freedom and is open to all European peoples who share our values," he said, calling on EU members to "join ranks, resolve old conflicts and find new solutions."
