Ukraine will seek EU sanctions against Rosatom - Kuleb

Ukraine wants to include Russia's Rosatom in the new package of EU sanctions.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said this in an interview with "RBK-Ukraine".

Answering a question about the details of the eighth package of EU sanctions, Kuleba said that Ukraine will promote President Zelenskiy's thesis that Rosatom should be established under sanctions.

According to him, this became relevant especially after the events at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, where not only Russian military personnel are present, but also Rosatom employees, who, in fact, carry out criminal activities.

"There are every reason to apply sanctions against them. And there are countries in the EU that we will work with them against," the minister said.

According to the minister's forecast, the new EU sanctions package may be introduced sooner than by the end of the year.

Kuleba acknowledged that the appetite for new sanctions is fading among some EU countries, and that each subsequent package will be more difficult than the previous one under the current status quo. But, according to him, this is a living process, you need to work with them.

As reported, the IAEA noted the presence of the ROSATOM expert group during the visit to the ZNPP, which, as the Russian side of the mission stated, "gives advice on nuclear safety, security and actions of the ZNPP management."

It is noteworthy that Hungary demands a guarantee from the EU that Russian nuclear energy will not be subject to sanctions.
