British intelligence: due to political pressure, the Russian Federation unsuccessfully advances on Bakhmut instead of strengthening the flanks

UK intelligence says that Ukrainian forces have stepped up their offensive in the north-east of the country, and Russia has stepped up defenses in the Luhansk region at the same time as unsuccessful attempts to attack Bakhmut.

This is stated in the intelligence review of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.

"Over the past few days, Ukraine has intensified its offensive operations in the northeast of the country. Units are making slow advances in at least two directions east of the line of the Oskol and Siverskyi Donets rivers, where forces have been consolidating since the onset at the beginning of the month," the review says.

The British Ministry of Defense notes that Russia is significantly strengthening its defenses, probably due to the fact that the Ukrainian offensive threatens parts of the Luhansk region against the background of the completion of the "referendum" on its accession to the Russian Federation.

Also, British intelligence notes, heavy fighting continues in the Kherson region, where Russian forces on the right bank of the Dnieper remain vulnerable.

In addition, Russia continues its unsuccessful attempts to advance in the Bakhmut region of Donbass, despite heavy pressure on its northern and southern flanks.

"This is probably due to political pressure, as Russia is using forces that could otherwise strengthen the other flanks," the review said.

Earlier, the intelligence of Britain stated that organizational difficulties await Russia in providing everything necessary for the training of the mobilized, these people may find themselves on the front lines after minimal training.
