The countries of the European Union have 90% agreed on the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, which will include a ceiling on oil prices. A monitoring system will be created that will not allow sanctions to be circumvented.

 According to the publication, the draft document of the European Commission includes a monitoring system for changing the flag of tankers in order to monitor attempts to circumvent sanctions against Russian oil.

 Changing the tanker's registration to a country not subject to the need to comply with EU sanctions could help shipowners trade Russian oil at a price higher than the ceiling on its purchase price, which the EU will introduce as part of the eighth package.
