The Russian occupiers launched 9 missile and 39 airstrikes, carried out about 30 attacks from multiple rocket launchers, and also attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones on October 17. This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

 It is reported that the Russians are not abandoning attempts to conduct offensive actions in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv directions.

 So, last day units of the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Spirne, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Mayorsk, Maryinka, Krasnohorivka, Peremoha and Nevelske of the Donetsk region.

 Areas of more than 25 settlements came under enemy fire. Among them are Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya; Kozacha Lopan and Strilyachcha of Kharkiv region; Krasnohorivka, Terny, Soledar and Maryinka of Donetsk region, Biloghirka of Kherson region; as well as other settlements of Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Sumy regions.

 For strikes, the invaders used cruise, aviation and anti-aircraft guided missiles, as well as Iranian Shahed-136 drones.

 There are no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissky directions. A planned rotation of units of the Armed Forces of Belarus, which are involved in the protection of the state border, is being carried out. The threat of missile and airstrikes, as well as the use of kamikaze drones from the territory of Belarus, remains.

 The Russians shelled in other directions:

 in the Siversky direction - from artillery of various types, in the areas of Popivka and Khodyna settlements of the Sumy region;

 in the Slobozhansk direction - from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery, in the areas of the settlements of Visoka Yaruga, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Kozacha Lopan, Ogurtsevo and Gatishche;

 in the Kramatorsk direction - from tanks and artillery along the contact line. In particular, in the areas of Grekivka, Stelmakhivka, Zarichne, Kiselyvka, Terny and Yampolivka settlements;

in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv directions, the invaders fired from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery along the entire contact line.

 In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhzhya directions, the occupiers shelled more than 25 settlements. Among them are Velyka Novosilka, Pavlivka, Olgovske and Mali Shcherbaki.

 In the Yuzhnobuz direction, the Russians are defending previously occupied lines and positions. Objects of military and civilian infrastructure are fired upon. Areas of more than 35 settlements along the contact line were destroyed by fire.

 The General Staff also confirmed the wounding of more than 40 occupiers as a result of point artillery strikes in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhya region. In addition, an ammunition depot was destroyed in Berdyansk. Up to 30 wounded enemies in Voskresenka settlement, up to 25 wounded in Vasylivka. The number of dead, which the enemy is trying to hide, is being clarified.

 In Kherson, the Russians are forced to involve units of the Russian Guard in the engineering equipment of positions around the city. At the same time, measures are being taken to deport the collaborators and their families to Crimea.

 Aviation of the Defense Forces during the day of October 17 struck more than 11 strikes. The defeat of 10 areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, as well as the positions of the occupiers' anti-aircraft missile system, was confirmed. In addition, our air defense units shot down 25 enemy Shahed-136s.

 Units of missile troops and artillery hit two control points, one area of ​​concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, two air defense facilities, two ammunition warehouses and other military targets of the Russians.
