Since the beginning of the year, Georgia has increased its trade with Russia by 50% since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of 2022, trade between Georgia and Russia has increased by 50%; imports, especially petroleum products, increased the most.

News-Georgia reports this, citing figures from the report of the national statistics service "Sakstat".

For nine months, from January to September, exports increased by 11% to 473 million dollars, imports - by 73%, to 1.24 billion dollars.

The increase in imports was largely due to oil products: if in 9 months of last year, Georgia bought $96 million worth of oil from the Russian Federation, in 2022 this figure will increase to $431 million.

Imports of Russian coke, flour, and margarine also increased.

Among the goods for which there is an increase in exports is Georgian wine, which was sold to Russia by 15% more than in this period of 2021.

The re-export of cars from Georgia to the Russian Federation also increased significantly: in nine months of 2021, about 2,000 cars were exported to Russia, and in 2022 - 3,200.
