Sunak and Stoltenberg will discuss the events in Ukraine after the visit of the Ukrainian military

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said Britain will continue to play a vital role in NATO for generations to come, ahead of a visit by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

 This is reported by AFP.

The NATO chief will be the first international leader Sunak has met in Downing Street since taking office last month.

Wednesday's talks will focus on Britain's support for Ukraine after Russia's February invasion and the future of the alliance, Sunak's office said.

"As the war in Ukraine continues to rage, we must not take the world at home for granted. I am convinced that the United Kingdom will be the foundation for future generations of NATO. But in order to face the challenges of the future, we must develop as an alliance to counter the threats from our adversaries and stay ahead of them," the statement said.

NATO said separately that Stoltenberg will also meet with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley.

The Prime Minister of Britain and the head of NATO will meet after visiting a military facility where Ukrainian troops are trained by the British military.

On Wednesday, November 9, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will visit a military base in Great Britain where Ukrainian military personnel are training.
