Ukrenergo announced an emergency situation in the energy system of Ukraine

JSC "Ukrenergo" announced an emergency situation in the energy system of Ukraine after today's massive missile attack. This was reported in the press service of the company.

 

 According to her data, as a result of attacks on thermal power plants, hydroelectric power stations and substations of main networks of 330-750 kV, there was a loss of more than 50% of the consumption of the unified energy system of Ukraine. According to the Transmission System Code, in this case, a system emergency occurs, energy experts noted.

 

 "At the same time, in accordance with the Market Rules (Chapter 9, paragraph 9.1.2), we inform you about the occurrence of an emergency situation, starting with the calculation period from 09:00 on 12/16/2022," the message states.

 

 Also, the director of the Energy Research Center Oleksandr Kharchenko explained to "Babel" that due to damage to substations and generating facilities, there is no technical possibility to provide electricity to about 50% of consumers. According to him, this also applies to critical infrastructure.

 

 "That is, it is impossible neither to produce more energy nor to transport it," the message states.
