The Ukrainian research icebreaker "Noosphere" reached the Antarctic station "Akademik Vernadskyi". The ship anchored near our island of Galindez on January 27. The information was released by the National Antarctic Science Center.

 "For us, the arrival of "Noosphere" is a very joyful event, because it is an opportunity to finally see our colleagues and compatriots after 10 months of wintering, as well as to receive guests from home. And this is also the beginning of a very responsible job - a major repair at our beloved station," noted Yurii Otruba, head of 27 UAE.

 "Noosphere" delivered cargo and a team of Ukrainian technical specialists to the station. In the next few months, they have to carry out urgent work on the modernization of "Vernadsky", necessary for the successful winterization of the next 28th UAE. In particular, it is about the replacement of the heating system and work on the grounding of the diesel and main building of the station.

 It is assumed that after unloading, the ship will go to the Chilean port of Punta Arenas for the future provision of change of annual expeditions on "Vernadsky".

 In the second Antarctic season, "Noosphere" departed from the port of Cape Town (South Africa) at the end of December 2022. First, the ship delivered cargo and a team of polar explorers to the Polish Antarctic station "Artstowski", located on King George Island.
