The Baltic countries called on the Georgian government to release former president Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment abroad.

 This was reported by the heads of foreign affairs of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia on Twitter.

 Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis said that sending Saakashvili for treatment would be the best solution for all parties.

 "Releasing Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment abroad would be the best decision - for him, for his family and for the European future of Georgia," he wrote on Twitter.

 In his turn, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, said that Tallinn is ready to provide a medical examination for the treatment of Saakashvili.

 "We are concerned about the state of health of the former president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili, and call for him to be given the opportunity to be treated abroad. Estonia is ready to provide medical expertise for his treatment. This step is also important for reducing polarization in society," he wrote on Twitter.

 At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevičs, called on Georgia to ensure proper treatment of Saakashvili.

 "There is increasing concern about the health of the former president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili. I call on the Georgian authorities to ensure proper treatment and prevent his condition from worsening," the minister wrote on Twitter.
