EU institutions are quarreling over the leak of details of Zelenskyi's possible visit – media

After the leak of information about the possible visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Brussels, mutual accusations broke out among EU officials, which caused concern about his security.

 The Guardian writes about it.

Last week, Zelenskyi allowed a possible personal visit to Brussels to thank for Ukraine's support, if there is a chance to get long-range weapons and if the security situation allows the visit.

Subsequently, it became known that Zelenskyі may come to Brussels this Thursday to personally meet with EU leaders at the summit and address the European Parliament in an extraordinary session.

About 48 hours before the trip to Brussels, the visit was reported by the Italian media and later announced on Twitter by the European People's Party (EPP). "We look forward to welcoming you to Brussels, Mr. President," the tweet reads. The post was quickly removed, but Politico took a screenshot.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who organizes the EU summits, considers the European Parliament responsible for the leak of information. His representative neither confirmed nor denied the visit, saying: "There is an open invitation from President Zelenskyi to visit Brussels."

The dispute shows how competing EU institutions are trying to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine and support for Zelenskyi. Separately, EU diplomats said Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen were competing to show support for Ukraine.
