Zelenskyі introduced new sanctions, Assad is on the list

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi has imposed sanctions against 300 individuals and 141 legal entities, including Syrian President Bashar Hafez al-Assad and several other Syrian officials. This is evidenced by the published decree of the President.

Zelenskyі implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated March 18, 2023 "On applying and amending personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)".

In particular, President Bashar Hafez al-Assad, Prime Minister of Syria Husein Arnous, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal al-Mikdad fell under the sanctions.

Control over the implementation of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, put into effect by this decree, is entrusted to the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

It will be recalled that Assad previously declared that he supports Russia's war in Ukraine.
