Orban hinted that they could block Ukraine's move to the EU because of the law on education

The office of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán made it clear that they will not agree to the future accession of Ukraine to the EU without new concessions under the law on education, which has become the main cause of problems in bilateral relations in recent years.

This was said by the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, Gergei Guijas, Telex writes.

He said that Hungary would be ready to support Ukraine's membership in the EU only if Ukraine "ensures the use of the language of Transcarpathian Hungarians."

At the same time, Guijas said that the Hungarian government would like to improve relations with Ukraine, and this will be possible if Ukraine makes changes to the law on education - which, according to Budapest, "violate all European approaches" and limit the use of the Hungarian language, and that's why Hungary opposed him in all possible ways.

We will remind you that Hungary did not block granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for joining the EU in June 2022.

However, in general, Budapest did not withdraw its claims to the law on education and the "oppression of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia" and until recently successfully blocked Ukraine-NATO political meetings, until the other day the Alliance procedurally bypassed the Hungarian veto (and, it seems, will continue to do so in the future).
