The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, emphasized on Tuesday that Sweden, like Finland, has fulfilled all the conditions for full NATO membership, and expressed hope for the speedy implementation of this process.

 

   Stoltenberg said this at a press conference at the NATO headquarters with Finnish President Sauli Niiniste.

 

   Secretary General of the Alliance on announcements, who are in close contact with Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding Sweden's membership in NATO.

 

   "My message arose from the fact that not only Finland, but also Sweden fulfilled the obligations they undertook under the tripartite agreement (with Turkey. - Ed.), and I spoke about this during my meetings in Ankara. nothing should prevent or be an obstacle to the final ratification of Sweden as well, so that it becomes a member of the Alliance," he stressed.

 

   Stoltenberg, on the contrary, that Sweden's membership is a priority for the Alliance" and is important for him personally.

 

   "Everyone else agrees that we should try to complete Sweden's accession process as soon as possible, so we continue to work on it and hope that we can accept Sweden (to NATO. - Ed.)," NATO Secretary General added.
