Vucic said that Kosovo will "remain part of Serbia" until the end of his mandate

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Kosovo "will remain part of Serbia" until the end of his term.

Vučić announced this on the air of the RTS TV channel, Euractiv reports.

"Kosovo will probably remain part of Serbia during my mandate, and after that it's a matter for someone else. I think we will have to suffer a lot, especially our people in Kosovo and Metohija," he said.

According to Vučić, Serbia will implement some of Europe's proposals for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, but not all. The president added that he "clearly" made it clear to the European leaders "which of them we will not accept."

"Don't forget that when we signed the Association and Accession Agreement, until EU membership and Chapter 35, it was known that there was to be a so-called legally binding agreement on the normalization of relations in Pristina. The Germans commented on this as recognition , the Americans too, and now they have all abandoned this term. This is good news, but the good news ends there," Vucic said.

"There is one good point in the proposal, and the Albanian leadership in Kosovo does not think about it. And it is that we live in the world next to each other. Everything else, what concerns Serbia and its statehood, is not good," - emphasized Vucich.

Kosovo and Serbia agreed to a Western-backed deal to normalize relations in Brussels in February after nearly 10 years of EU-brokered dialogue during which little progress was made.
