US President Joe Biden is preparing to announce the start of his re-election campaign on Tuesday.

 Two people familiar with the matter said this on Thursday, Reuters reported.

 Biden's announcement Tuesday will come four years after the start of his 2020 campaign, sources said.

 One of the sources said that the exact time of Biden's announcement could change.

 Last Friday, Biden told a reporter that he would announce the start of the campaign "relatively soon." "I told you that my plan is to run again," the US president emphasized.

 Biden is the oldest person to serve as president of the United States: he will be 86 years old at the end of his second four-year term.

 He faced low public approval ratings ahead of the campaign. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that only 39% of Americans approve of his job performance.
