The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to Orban, who again calls for negotiations with Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reminded Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán why it is impossible to "just stop shooting" in the war with Russia, and urged him to start doing something that would really contribute to the end of the war.

Such a comment was published by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko in response to Orban's repeated calls for negotiations with Russia.

Oleg Nikolenko reminded that Kyiv's position regarding negotiations with Russia remains unchanged: negotiations are possible only after the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. "A cease-fire without fulfilling this condition will freeze the status quo, give Russia the opportunity to regroup, accumulate strength and resort to a new wave of aggression. This is proven by the experience of 2014-2022," he noted.

The speaker noted that constant Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities are clear evidence that Moscow is not considering any other scenario than continuing the war.

"At the same time, we took into account Viktor Orbán's statement that it is difficult for him to be the only prime minister in the EU who advocates for peace. To alleviate this situation, we call on the head of the Hungarian government to finally start acting. For example, condemn Russian aggression, demand from Moscow to end the war and return the Russian army to Russian territory, to join the measures of international isolation of Russia, not to undermine the unity of the EU," the representative added.

It will be recalled that in an interview with the state radio on Friday, the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, threatened Ukraine with heavy losses during the counteroffensive and called for the start of negotiations with Moscow.

Orbán also complained that it is difficult for him to be the only prime minister in the EU who advocates peace.
