On the night of September 21, Russia fired 43 X-101/X-555/X-55 air-launched missiles at Ukraine. Most of the enemy missiles were shot down. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi on Telegram.
He noted that the attack began around 3:40. There were 43 cruise missiles launched from 10 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the area west of Engels.
The missiles were launched in several waves. They entered the airspace of Ukraine from different directions and constantly changed course along the route.
As a result of combat operations, air defense forces destroyed 36 cruise missiles. Anti-aircraft missile troops, fighter aircraft, mobile groups and other means were involved in repelling the attack.
Zaluzhnyi also noted that at 6:00 a.m., the Russians fired S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at Kharkiv.
