The first batch of American Abrams tanks arrived in Ukraine on Saturday, September 23, The New York Times reports.
The publication notes that the delivery of the first tanks took place several months earlier than expected, which will allow them to be used in the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The publication's sources said that the rest of the Abrams tanks will be delivered in the coming months. The first batch that arrived in Ukraine was part of the promised 31 tanks that President Joe Biden's administration promised to send.
The exact number of tanks delivered was not specified.
Zelensky confirms that Abrams tanks have arrived in Ukraine from the United States.
"Good news from Minister Umerov. "Abrams are already in Ukraine and are preparing to strengthen our brigades. I am grateful to our allies for fulfilling the agreements! We are looking for new contracts, expanding the geography of supply," the President said.
