President of Artsakh: Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will cease to exist

After the operation of the Azerbaijani military, the "authorities" of Nagorno-Karabakh announced the termination of the republic's existence from the beginning of 2024. This information is reported by Armenpress, referring to the statement by representatives of the "authorities" of the unrecognized republic.

"President of the Republic of Artsakh Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree on actions arising from the situation that developed after September 19, 2023," the report says.

The document says that this decision is related to the difficult military and political situation and takes into account the agreements reached through the mediation of the command of the Russian "peacekeeping" contingent with representatives of Azerbaijan. One of these agreements is to "ensure free, voluntary and unimpeded passage of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, including military personnel who have laid down their arms, with their property in their vehicles through the Lachin corridor."

"All state institutions and organizations under their jurisdiction shall be dissolved by January 1, 2024, and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) shall cease to exist," the decree reads.

After the decree enters into force, the local population should familiarize themselves with the conditions of reintegration proposed by the Azerbaijani authorities "in order to make an independent and individual decision on the possibility of staying (returning) in Nagorno-Karabakh".
