In a recent crackdown, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has apprehended 20 individuals involved in the illicit purchase, storage, and trafficking of firearms and explosives in Tbilisi and regions, the body said on Tuesday. 

 

As a result of operational and investigative efforts carried out in the recent period, law enforcement authorities have seized illegal weapons and explosive materials.

 

Possessing, purchasing, or trafficking illegal firearms and explosives is punishable with a prison term ranging from three to seven years in Georgia.
