Police said the arrest was carried out as a result of investigative measures conducted in Batumi

A Turkish national wanted under an Interpol red notice has been detained in Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Friday.

The suspect, identified by the initials S.E. and born in 1984, was arrested in the Black Sea city of Batumi following a joint operation by the Adjara division of the Central Criminal Police Department and the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the State Security Service.

The individual had been sought by Turkish law enforcement authorities in connection with charges of intentional grievous bodily harm and murder.

Police said the arrest was carried out as a result of investigative measures conducted in Batumi.

Extradition procedures are now under way in accordance with Georgian law.
