Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku earlier today, where both officials stated that the close economic and political cooperation between the two countries benefit the whole region, its stable and peaceful development.
Aliyev has praised Georgia’s investment environment and said that trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan has increased.

He also said that joint gas and oil projects, as well as other international projects the countries are implementing together, have made Georgian-Azerbaijani cooperation ‘special’ and benefited the whole Eurasia region.

Garibashvili and Aliyev have agreed to further strengthen political, economic, cultural and other ties.

Garibashvili said that Georgia is interested in regional peace, ‘which is crucial for economic development,’ and has been taking steps for this.

It is Garibashvili’s second official visit to Azerbaijan this year.
