One of the leaders of the United National Movement (UNM), Anna Tsitlidze, on Friday said the opposition’s main challenge was the lack of a unified strategy, stressing that unity was crucial to achieving a common political outcome.
Speaking to journalists, Tsitlidze said the opposition had yet to agree on a shared strategy of struggle, which she described as the key objective.
“The problem is that we are not reaching a common result, and that common result is a joint strategy of struggle. Unity is extremely important in this process,” Tsitlidze said.
She also stressed the need for both short-term and long-term planning, involving all opposition parties and civic activists who oppose the current government.
“A short-term and a long-term strategy must be planned. By this, I mean all opposition parties and civil activists - everyone who is fighting the regime. We all need to understand that in both the short-term and long-term perspective, we are in this together, and we must clearly define who can take on which responsibilities and how each actor can continue the struggle,” she said.
She added developing a coordinated vision and clearly distributing responsibilities was what the opposition “must focus on in order to move forward effectively.”
