Annual inflation hits 11.8% in Georgia

The annual inflation rate has hit 11.8 percent in Georgia, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 2.5 percent in March 2022 compared to the same period of the last year, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said today. 

The monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups: 

Transport: the prices increased by 8.9 percent, contributing 1.03 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. 

Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices for the group increased by 2.0 percent, contributing 0.68 percentage points to the overall monthly index change. 

The annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups: 

Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices in the group increased by 17.8 percent, contributing 5.69 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. 

Transport: the prices increased by 21.6 percent, contributing 2.6 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. 

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group posted an 8.4 percent increase, which contributed 0.85 percentage points to the annual inflation rate.
