Another round of free medical examinations has been provided for internally displaced persons from Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia as part of the Abkhazian Health and Social Protection Ministry’s updated programmes for 2026.
Under the initiative, IDPs suffering from chronic circulatory system diseases received comprehensive cardiological examinations and consultations at the Chapidze Heart Disease Centre in the capital city of Tbilisi at no cost.
The medical campaign was visited by the Chair of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jincharadze, along with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Besik Kusidi. They met with displaced beneficiaries and medical staff and reviewed the implementation of the programme on site.
Jincharadze said the launch of the updated health programmes was an important step in ensuring access to quality healthcare for displaced citizens, noting that care for IDPs remains one of the Government’s top priorities.
With the support of the Abkhazian Government, similar free medical examination campaigns for displaced populations will continue periodically across the country.
