Abkhazia police seize large quantity of drugs, two Moldovans arrested

Officers of the Abkhazia Police Department, part of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, have arrested two Moldovan citizens in connection with the illegal acquisition, storage and facilitation of the sale of large and particularly large quantities of narcotics.

During searches of the suspects’ personal belongings, vehicles and temporary residences, as well as through investigative experiments, law enforcement seized a particularly large quantity of methadone prepared for sale.

Authorities also confiscated materials used for packaging narcotics.

The offence carries a penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
