Georgian police arrest 23-year-old on major drug possession charges

The offence carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment if the suspect is convicted

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs says officers from the Abkhazia Autonomous Republic Police Department have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of illegally purchasing and possessing a particularly large quantity of narcotics.
The suspect, identified by his initials E.G. and born in 2002, was detained following a personal search, during which officers seized up to 100 grams of the наркотic substance methadone as evidence.
The offence carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment if the suspect is convicted.
