A protest march was held in Tbilisi in support of Mzia Amaglobeli and Nino Datashvili. Participants began their march at the Philharmonic Hall and joined the ongoing daily demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue.
Carrying a banner that read, “Don’t you dare! You won’t bring back Soviet terror!”, demonstrators expressed their opposition to what they described as politically motivated persecution.
"This protest by the '300 Women' movement is today’s message to Ivanishvili and his puppet government — who have long overstepped their bounds. But the Georgian people will not tolerate or forgive this,” said one of the protesters. “Freedom for Nino, Mzia, and all prisoners of conscience. Power lies with the people — and we will win.”
The verdict in the criminal case against Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, is scheduled to be announced on August 6 at 14:00.
As for Nino Datashvili, an activist and a teacher, she is expected to be transferred to a psychiatric facility for examination on the basis of a court order, also on August 6.
