Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping minor stepdaughter in Georgia’s Poti

A man convicted of raping and committing lewd acts against his 12-year-old stepdaughter has been sentenced to life imprisonment, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia said on Thursday.

The body added the Poti City Court in the country’s Black Sea port city fully upheld the evidence presented by prosecutors and found the defendant guilty on all charges.

The investigation established that the man violently raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter and engaged in lewd acts against her.

Law enforcement officers arrested the perpetrator on July 24. He was charged with rape committed through violence and with prior knowledge against a minor family member.

The Poti City Court found the defendant guilty of the charges brought against him and sentenced him to life imprisonment, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
