US forces seize Venezuela-linked sanctioned tanker Veronica

US military personnel have seized the sanctioned tanker Veronica, linked to Venezuela, marking the sixth such detention in recent months.

The US Southern Command stated that the vessel violated sanctions imposed on tankers operating in the Caribbean region.

Previously seized ships were either under US sanctions or part of so-called “shadow fleets” that conceal their origins while transporting oil from Iran, Russia, or Venezuela.
