Protests in Batumi, Georgia are ongoing as citizens demand the release of Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, along with other detained activists.

Protesters claim they are being punished for exercising free speech and describe themselves as political prisoners of Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Ahead of the protest march, a women’s demonstration was held in front of the Batumelebi editorial office.

Mzia Amaglobeli was arrested on January 12 on charges of attacking a police officer. Since her detention, she has been on a hunger strike in protest.
