Bridget Brink, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, has announced her resignation after nearly three years in the role, the State Department confirmed on Thursday.

Appointed by President Joe Biden in April 2022, Brink’s tenure encompassed a critical period marked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and evolving US foreign policy.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce acknowledged Brink’s service during a press briefing, saying, “Ambassador Brink’s been ambassador at the embassy in Ukraine for three years – during a time of war for those three years – an extraordinary performance there. And we wish her well.”

During her tenure, Brink was a vocal advocate for continued American military assistance to Ukraine. However, recent tensions arose following a Russian missile strike in Kryvyi Rih that resulted in civilian casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Brink for not explicitly attributing the attack to Russia in her official statement, expressing disappointment over what he perceived as a muted response.
