British Ambassador: CoviShield and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines are identical

Melinda Simmons, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Ukraine, said that the COVID-19 vaccines CoviShield and Oxford-AstraZeneca are identical.

Simmons reported this on Twitter.

“Vaccines: factcheck. The COVID-19 CoviShield vaccine and the Oxford-AstraZeneca AZD1222 vaccine are identical. CoviShield is the licensed name for AZD1222 manufactured in India,” – she said.

According to the diplomat, any suggestion that the CoviShield vaccine, which is used in Ukraine, differs in formula from Oxford-AstraZeneca, is “categorically wrong.”
